Our "Sweets"

Connor has a new nickname for Kaia & Ashlyn: "Sweets." Used in a sentence, "Oh, my Sweets look so cute today!" So endearing, really. Well, except for the fact that all these cute nicknames are due to the fact that he still cannot tell them apart. So much for trying to give each of them their own individual identity. Recently I overhead him telling someone, "I have two sisters who are EXACTLY the same!" Well, that's not quite true, actually. For now, we are just glad that he still likes them and thinks they are sweet.

Cannon Ball!!

Well, okay not a cannon ball, exactly. However, if you know Connor very well, then you'll appreciate that this was a pretty brave jump! This summer Connor is taking his first swimming lessons (since our time in baby-and-me swim when he was about 2). For many years he had a small-ish fear of putting his head under water (in the shower, in the bath, and definitely in the pool). In fact, so much so that I was not sure he would even be willing to get IN the pool for "preschool" lessons without us. He proved us wrong! Not only does he LIVE. FOR. swimming lessons this summer, but he's getting to be quite the little fish.

P.S. This is Connor's favorite video. He watches it multiple times a day. Apparently he likes to revel in his own achievement. I told him I thought he was brave and I overheard him telling the girls, "Sisters! Come watch me being so brave!" They love the video too:)

One silly kid...

Today Connor & I had the following conversation:

Me: Look at your old school. They tore down all the burned parts and are going to rebuild it!
Connor: WHOA! Remember when I used to get to ride in the front seat of the car before school? (Connor gets to climb up to the front seat during the preschool drop-off lane, which was his favorite thing last year).
Me: Yep, I totally do. Do you? (A dumb rhetorical question...)
Connor: Nope. I don't. That was TOO. LONG. AGO.
Me: Obviously.

A Beach Party!

Last week was Grandpa's birthday, so we loaded everyone up to have his "Birthday Party" at the beach. On our way there, Connor had all kinds of good questions:
1) Are all my cousins coming to Grandpa's party? (No, just us.)
2) What kind of presents will he get? (umm, not sure but he probably won't open any at the "party")
3) What kind of cake will he have? (Well, we actually aren't having any cake today.)
4) WHAT??? NO. CAKE.???
At this point we have to explain to Connor in detail that this is not going to be your traditional birthday party. Its really more of a eating-lunch-out, then-playing-in-the-sand-kind-of-party.
Connor remained confused, but he did thoroughly enjoy the beach!

Kaia
It was colder than we expected so we didn't bother to put the Littles in their swimsuits. We figured that it would be too cold for them in the water anyway. Obviously we know our own kids really well...

Ashlyn
After packing what seemed like two days worth of food/snacks, lots of extra clothes, blankets, beach towels, baby carriers, and stroller we thought we finally had everything. Once we got there we realized we forgot one crucial group of items. The sand toys. No problem. We found the kids a giant sand hole that turned out to be WAY. MORE. FUN!

Happy Birthday Grandpa!
