Our New Rooms

First, our new kitchen...

Finished in the nick of time...way to go Casey!!

And the baby girls' room...

Dear Baby Girls,

Our closets are cleaned out, our remodels are finished, your new clothes are washed. Technically we are "ready" to meet you. However, we know that it will be way, WAY easier to take care of you before you are born, so seriously take your sweet time. Meanwhile we will be lounging on the couch, watching TV, and sleeping ALL. NIGHT. LONG. When you do decide to come into this world, please try to sleep as much as possible (preferably at the same time) and cry only when absolutely necessary & we should get along just fine. Thanks.

Love, Your Parents & Older Brother

Easter

Connor graduated this Easter from just observing the egg dying to actually getting to help. Although we did lay out a VERY large plastic table cloth...just in case. Obviously quite proud of HIS egg, marked with a "C".
Then on Saturday morning we took Connor to his first real Easter Egg Hunt. As you can see there were many eggs and even more kids. Connor was not the fastest scavenger. In fact, Casey eventually had to jump in and intervene.

Connor was either too polite or too timid to get very many eggs...he got 3. The whole hunt took about 60 seconds. Then afterwards he said, "I wanted to get more eggs, but the kids took them ALL!"

Easter Morn...

...no competition this time. Not only did Connor find all his eggs, he insisted we hide them again, and again, and AGAIN.

It is now 3 days later and we are still hiding eggs, and finding them, and hiding them, etc. Who knew this could be SO. MUCH. FUN.?

Like Father, Like Son: Chapter 4

Casey almost immediately changes out of his work clothes when he gets home each day. This after work "uniform" consists of athletic shorts and a t-shirt almost every day (unless it is below freezing in which case substitute the shorts for fleece pants). And, seriously, who can blame him? Well tonight Connor disappeared into his room for about 5 minutes & came out with some new shorts of his own on. I honestly didn't even know that he knew those new shorts were in his drawer. Then Connor says something to the effect of "Do you like my new shorts like Daddy's?" So, like all parents, his dad & I start saying things like, "Oh, isn't that so funny/cute/adorable etc." Then we find out the whole story:

Connor: "Mama, can I have a wipee?"
Me: "What for?"
Connor: "To clean up the pee-pee on the floor."

As it turns out, it was no longer the cutest thing we had ever seen. However, the kid did change himself, and attempt to clean up his own mess. Props for that my son!

Its FINALLY Spring...

It has been raining here for many, many days. Maybe hundreds, I have literally lost count. So, today when the sun finally came out, Connor had to get outdoors. Since the grass was still a tiny bit wet and the ground a teensy bit mushy, I insisted he wear his rubber boots. I thought this would surely save his pant legs from getting wet & muddy. Silly, silly me! First I found him laying in the grass, then rolling around. By the time I got my camera he was just sitting on the damp lawn, like this was a perfectly normal activity on the first real day of spring in a mushy yard.
In case you can't tell, his elephant watering can has found a fishing pole (stick) and is fishing for fish in our yard. But Connor told me that he didn't catch any, because there weren't any fish in our yard. Thanks for that shocking news flash.

A Great Idea!

Connor's latest funny phrase, "That sounds like a great idea!" This usually makes an appearance when I suggest that he might want to play the ipad, or watch a TV show. However, letting Connor "wash" the dishes (which pretty much entails playing in the water in the sink), baking brownies, and playing a new rhyming game also has recently received this same response. Occasionally Connor will tell me, "I have a great idea!" As it turns out, sometimes they are pretty great, and other times not so much. For example, the other night in the pouring rain, Connor tells me he "has a great idea" that entails us going for a walk, with his stroller, in the rain. NOT. GOING. TO. HAPPEN. Of course at this point I am challenged to come up with an even GREATER idea so he will forget his original great one. I am beginning to feel like this kid will be able to outsmart me any day now.

A Treat for Daddy

Brownie mix out of the box + a willing little helper = a delicious surprise for Daddy for when he gets home from work. My taste tester says, "Mama that IS good!" and "Can I have more of THAT?" Yes, of course son, this is the best part of baking...obviously:)
I think that Connor & his mom enjoyed this surprise treat more than daddy did! In fact, the twin babes each got their own piece of warm brownie too.
